Health & Welfare Benefit Consulting - Intern

Plante Moran Group Benefits Advisors II (PMGBA II), an affiliate entity of Plante & Moran, PLLC (PM), provides consulting and brokerage services to help clients create sustainable employee health and welfare benefit plans that are cost effective and help clients attract and retain talent.  Our rapid growth and increasing demands for our services has created a need for a highly motivated individual to join PMGBA II as an intern in our Auburn Hills office from May through August 2018.

Your role.

Forget about getting coffee and just making copies. As an intern, you’ll be treated just like our entry-level staff. You’ll work on projects and engagements that directly affect our clients. Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Learn and utilize accepted underwriting and pricing methods to assist in developing estimated insured and self-insured benefit plan rates/funding levels for employer sponsored plans
  • Interact with vendors for carrier pricing and bid negotiations
  • Collect and maintain carrier data for analytics and price determination
  • Use statistically credible rating methodologies to develop prospective rates and conduct benchmarking analytics
  • Assist other staff in the development of client presentation materials for prospective and existing clients
  • Meaningful interactions with staff at all levels, as well as with our clients

The qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in actuarial sciences, business, economics, risk management, or math
  • Academic success ( a minimum major GPA of 3.25)
  • Detail-oriented leader with problem solving, communication and analytical skills
  • Strong technical skills in the MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

Our difference. We are a nationally recognized public accounting, consulting, and wealth management firm, consistently ranked as one of FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” and "100 Best Companies for Millennials." Vault.com has ranked us at #7 on their annual “Best Accounting Firms to Work for” list which included the #1 spot in 11 “quality of life” categories.  At Plante Moran, we live by the Golden Rule, fostering a relatively “jerk-free” culture with the lowest staff turnover rate in the industry. Our supportive network of well-rounded professionals is excited to catapult your growth and help pave your pathway to professional excellence.

This is a non-exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week. This position may require some local, national, and occasional international travel.
